This has been put together based on my years of experience with commissioning artists of all kinds. Following this guide should make your commissioning experience much more pleasant for you and the artist you commission.
1. Read all of an artist's page. All of it. Many of the questions you may have such as, "How much is this?", "Do you take points?", or "Are your commissions open?" can be answered by simply reading the artist's main page. Didn't find the answer you were looking for? Try their journal. Many artists will have their commission information as a journal post for easier access and updating.
Still didn't find what you were looking for?
2. Message the artist. Sometimes notes work, sometimes they don't. Many artists only take commission requests via email or even another website, such as Etsy. Refer to step 1 for the best route to contact an artist.

3. Be detailed about your request. Artists aren't psychic. A
